TSC Community Outreach Initiative
MISSION
Theewater Sports School aims to provide children in the greater Theewaterskloof municipality with the means and facilities to understand, learn and enjoy multiple watersport disciplines in a safe and friendly environment.
OBJECTIVE
The following objectives have been identified:
- To allow 6 children access to the program over a 6 month period
- To provide basic sail training, water awareness, lifesaving, angling and paddling
- The program aims to run once a month for a period of 6 months
- Sessions to be limited to 6 students between the ages of 8 to 14
- Each child is to receive a meal and access to a warm shower during each session
- Each child is to receive a “goody bag” containing various items as may be donated from time to
time
NOTES
- This is a non-profit initiative presented by Theewater Sports Club
- Volunteers do not receive payment of any kind
- Any donations are to be used for the development of this initiative and maintenance of equipment used
- Access must be given to all children from the TWK municipality
PROGRAM OF EVENTS FOR THE 2021/22 SEASON
4 September 2021 : TSS Opens – Welcome activities and braai at the clubhouse
2 October 2021 : TSS Session 1 – Water safety, CPR and general awareness
6 November 2021 : TSS Session 2 – Basic techniques of swimming, jump from the platform
5 February 2022 : TSS Session 3 – Basic techniques of rowing, paddle around the marks
5 March 2022 : TSS Session 4 – Basic techniques of angling, karp catching contest.
2 April 2022 : TSS Session 5 - Basic techniques of sailing, 09er soccer match
7 May 2022: TSS Closes – handout of “certificates” to all students at watersports AGM

10h15 – Theory on the discipline of the day
10h30 – Start of training
